POSITION: KCSB SITE MANAGER
PROJECT: KOGAN CREEK SOLAR BOOST PROJECT
REPORTS TO: PROJECT DIRECTOR
DIRECT REPORTS: MANAGER, TECHNICAL FIELD ADVISORS, SITE SERVICES SUPERVISER, EH&S OFFICER, PROJECT DISCIPLINE ENGINEERS WHEN BASED AT SITE.
LOCATION: KCSB SITE (With travel to Brisbane when required)
POSITION PURPOSE
The role of the KCSB Site Manager is to control and direct the KCSB site construction activities and manage the onsite performance of subcontractors to achieve the project’s goals including the fulfillment of the project scope and that schedule and cost requirements are met on site. This role is also responsible for the site EH&S performance, ensuring that subcontractors are managing their employee relations appropriately throughout the complete site lifecycle from handover through to commissioning and practical completion. This includes the leadership and supervision of the project discipline engineers when based at site. The Site Manager will also manage the local client site relationships to ensure that issues a dealt with promptly and that effective communication is maintained.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure that all site activities are undertaken in accordance with all local, state and federal environmental health and safety requirements and in accordance with Areva Corporate requirements, including the development and management of risk management plans, ensuring that all work method statements are developed and applied, tool box meetings held, inductions are developed and undertaken and positive safety actions are in place.
• Ensure the health, safety, wellbeing and security of all Areva Solar employees on site and related to site activities as well as all visitors and ensure that subcontractors fulfill all responsibilities for their employees.
• Manage the flow and action required on technical, coordination and interface issues on site between the client, internal engineering, external consultants, subcontractors and equipment suppliers to ensure the compliant construction of the Solar Field, interconnecting pipework and associated plant and equipment within scope and on time and budget.
• Ensure that all equipment erection is undertaken in accordance with the relevant construction guidelines and standards and that Technical Field Advisers are monitoring, reporting on and assisting subcontractors to achieve the required project goals.
• Manage the commissioning process to ensure that the functioning plant integrates with the client’s existing plant and equipment and in a safe manner. Assist in the performance testing requirements and liaise with the client to ensure the satisfactory integration of the operating plant.
• Manage the on site change order process and monitor and report any lost time due to weather issues.
• Ensure that the appropriate materials handling, storage requirements and inventory controls are in place and managed so that all equipment components are stored appropriately, accounted for and meet all engineering and quality requirements.
• Manage all site quality issues and ensure that the construction project quality plan is adhered to and that all client and product quality requirements are met.
• Undertake reporting on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to ensure that the Project Director and Areva Solar management is informed on progress, risk mitigation actions, potential unidentified risks, environmental, health and safety issues, potential change orders, and other issues of site concern.
• Manage and monitor site employee relations particularly those of subcontractors and assist in the development of appropriate industrial relations agreements and standards where appropriate..
• Manage all temporary facilities and ensure that they meet statutory and corporate standards and requirements of personnel on site.
• Manage and review the performance of direct Areva Solar employees including the mentoring of staff members, feedback on performance and the development of professional development plans.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Director
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Engineering degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Formal Project Management (PMI or above) qualifications are an advantage.
• At least 10 years experience in Australian site construction management roles.

• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety particularly as it relates to Australian construction sites.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interact with all levels throughout AREVA, Clients & Contractors
• Excellent ‘presentation’ with the experience and stature to gain credibility
• Project Management Professional qualifications are an advantage.
• Knowledge of relevant codes and practices
• A proven ability to work independently on challenging and time-constrained projects
• A self-starter who can thrive in a dynamic team environment
• Demonstrated team leadership and management skills
• Ability to interact with all levels throughout AREVA, Clients & Contractors.
• Commercially astute
• Excellent written and verbal communication and client relationship skills
