POSITION: HEALTH SAFETY ENVIRONMENTAL (HSE) EXECUTIVE

PROJECT: KOGAN CREEK SOLAR BOOST PROJECT

REPORTS TO: SITE SERVICES SUPERVISOR

DIRECT REPORTS: NIL

LOCATION: KOGAN CREEK SOLAR BOOST SITE


POSITION PURPOSE
The role of the Project HSE (or EH&S) Executive is to be the authority on the project responsible for the development and implementation of the project EH&S systems, policies and procedures. The mandatory requirement of this role is to ensure that at all times, all Project personnel, subcontractors and Areva Solar employees comply with Queensland Workplace Health and Safety law and Regulations. The EH&S Executive also needs to ensure compliance with Areva Corporate policies as well as develop and implement safety systems to ensure accreditation to the Australian Federal Government FSC Accreditation scheme.

THE KOGAN CREEK HSE EXECUTIVE HAS THE FULL AUTHORITY OF THE PROJECT DIRECTOR TO INSTRUCT THE CESSATION OF ANY ACTIVITY ON THE KCSB SITE AT ANY TIME TO ENSURE THAT THE OBJECTIVE OF ZERO HARM TO PERSON OR ENVIRONMENT IS ACHIEVED.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Develop and implement the Project Safety Plan and system including the Site Specific Safety Plan.
•    Liaise with consultants, the client and subcontractor representatives to ensure that an integrated approach to EH&S is adopted on the project that is fully compliant with Queensland Workplace Health and Safety Law and Regulations and any applicable Australian federal law.
•    Ensure that the Project EH&S systems are developed and implemented on the Project including the Site Specific Safety Plan, the ISO18000 safety system and any other accreditations are achieved including FSC accreditation.
•    In accordance with the Project EH&S systems, liaise with the client to ensure that all systems meet the needs and approval of the Client and also comply with Areva Group Corporate policies.
•    Review all subcontractor EH&S Management systems to ensure that they are in compliance with KCSB Project EH&S management systems, client requirements and Areva Group Corporate requirements.
•    Undertake and resource all essential activities under the EH&S management plans and systems to ensure that all required site inductions are carried out, audits are undertaken and incident investigation systems are in place.
•    Devise, implement and monitor the Project EH&S KPI’s, both lagging and leading, and report these internally and externally as required.
•    Act as WHSO for the project where applicable.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
•    Formal qualifications in Queensland and Australian EH&S to bachelor degree level (or equivalent).
•    Appropriate short courses including Certificate IV in WPH&S
•    Construction site EH&S experience is essential as well as exposure to the Australian industrial relations environment.
•    Medium level experience and skill with MS Office software such as Excel and MS Word.
•    Existing Construction Industry Induction (white card)
•    Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
