POSITION: MANUFACTURING PRODUCTION MANAGER
PROJECT: KOGAN CREEK SOLAR BOOST PROJECT MANUFACTURING PLANT
REPORTS TO: MANUFACTURING MANAGER AUSTRALIA
DIRECT REPORTS: FULL MANUFACTURING TEAM
LOCATION: DALBY or ENVIRONS
POSITION PURPOSE
Management of the manufacturing facility for reflectors for the Kogan Creek Project. Once complete it is envisaged that this person will be offered a relocation if needed to the next project site, which may remain Kogan Creek.
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager – Australia, the Production manager has overall responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the manufacturing facility on a day by day basis. He/she is required to take a lead role in the development of the manufacturing site to a level where it is fully constructed, commissioned, staffed and ready for operation for the delivery of solar reflectors in accordance with the project schedule. Key essential attributes and responsibilities for the person include:
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensuring that the health and safety management plan is fully implemented at the facility, and followed which will include attendance at safety meetings, completing audits of the system, its use and effectiveness and ensuring all staff are trained in accordance with their respective positions and ensuring adequate resources are provided. Ensure reporting is completed to plan.
• Ensure work procedures are developed and implemented to ensure that production rates are matched to project requirements.
• Producing and issuing production reports to the Manufacturing Manager as requested.
• Develop, measure and report key agreed performance metrics in collaboration with Manufacturing Manager and Manufacturing Engineer
• Ensure appropriate quality management processes are implemented, managed, measured and reported
• Ensure that facility maintenance is planned and carried out to optimize equipment performance and availability. Reporting of same.
• Ensure equipment is operated safely, efficiently and to supplier’s recommendations. Reporting of same.
• Ensure site operating expenses are controlled, monitored, and reported in accordance with the Operational Budget.
• Mentor and assist other team members including training.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of process improvement initiatives, reduced cycle times, re-work and scrap, and to systems that measure and track variability and quality.
• Drive and integrated Lean principle, least cost, best practice strategy
• Experience with and exposure to high speed welding & assembly operations for large structures
• Exposure to large robotic/automated manufacturing systems
• Practical, hands-on, team builder and manager
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Formal qualifications in a relevant technical discipline Trade or equivalent to bachelor degree level and post grad desirable.
• Technical drawings interpretation experience and skill
• Good level of experience and skill with computer based applications including MS Office software such as Excel, Project, MS Word.
• ISO9000 implementation/accreditation experience
• Experience with high speed welding and assembly operations for large structures
• Exposure to robotic/automated manufacturing systems
• Familiarity with SAP an advantage
• LEAN experience
• Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
